Professional Bio

Charles Scott Burford, Sr. graduated from the University of Texas in 1975 with a BBA in Accounting and has built a distinguished career in financial markets spanning nearly five decades. He began at Republic Bank Dallas in 1976 trading treasury securities before moving into municipal bonds, later becoming Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Asset Management Group at MBank Dallas.

In 1984, Scott founded Burford Partners Ltd. Futures Fund, a commodity pool/hedge fund that grew to $11.5 million in assets under management and 138 investors. After closing the fund in 1990, he continued to advise clients independently, eventually co-founding Burford Brothers, Inc., a registered investment advisory firm he now runs with his son, Charlie, serving individual investors and families.

Scott earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1999 and has held multiple securities registrations, including Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 27, 52, 53, 63, and 65.

Personal Bio

Married to Paula Meek Burford since 1981, Scott is the proud father of Mary Catherine (1988) and Charlie (1991), and the grandfather of Caroline, Molly, Connor, Scottie, and Ellie. A Dallas resident since 1969, he has always placed family and community at the heart of his life, cherishing milestones with loved ones — from weddings and birthdays to holiday gatherings and family traditions.

Beyond family, Scott remains active in charitable, nonprofit, and community organizations, supporting causes that strengthen connections and give back to others. For him, friends and business associates often blend together, reflecting his belief that meaningful relationships extend across every part of life.
